"Statewide Technology Planning in Legal Services:Turns Out It Is Rocket Science"
National Technology Assistance Project - 040006
Abstract Number: 040006
April 2004
The National Technology Assistance Project (NTAP) published "Statewide Technology Planning in Legal Services: Turns Out It Is Rocket Science" to provide legal services programs with pragmatic guidance on how to implement and sustain a successful statewide technology planning process. The manual's authors offer both a straight forward approach to technology planning on a statewide level as well as anecdotal notes excerpted from reflections by interviewees on their own experiences. The most important aspect of this new publication stems from its emphasis on moving technology planning beyond the confines of an individual organization and integrating the planning process into the larger equal justice community in which a legal services program functions. To help realize these goals, the manual includes "A Checklist for Success" that outlines the process as well as sections dedicated to discussing planning bodies, staffing and budgeting, mission and vision, as well as developing a concrete plan.
