Report on Limited Scope Legal Assistance with Initial Recommendations

California Commission on Access to Justice - 030173

Abstract Number: 030173

February 2004

The Limited Representation Committee of the California Commission on Access to Justice published a "Report on Limited Scope Legal Assistance with Initial Recommendations" to examine how unbundling could increase access to legal services for low and moderate income people in California. This report was completed by the Committee to provide recommendations to the bar, the courts and other institutions for guidance on how to deal with limited scope assistance as it pertains to civil legal issues. This report provides readers with an analysis and initial recommendation for action on ethics issues, courts issues, disclosure and agreement issues, insurance issues, and lawyer referral and information services issues. The initial recommendations made in this report were approved in principle by the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California on July 28, 2001. Access the full report below as a PDF document.
