The Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) Access to Justice Committee, in conjunction with the TBA Corporate Counsel Section and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), are working in partnership to help foster a coordinated approach to pro bono work and support for the access to justice community by corporate and in-house legal departments in Tennessee. The Access to Justice Committee formed a Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Working Group, composed of in-house corporate counsel and law firm representative who work with corporations; that Group has developed plans for a Tennessee Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Initiative.  The goal of the Initiative is to increase awareness of and involvement in local pro bono programs and opportunities by corporate legal counsel around the state. One of the events for the Tennessee Corporate Pro Bono Initiative is a reception and dinner in conjunction with the TBA Convention in June 2007.  Pro Bono Directors from around the state will be invited to the Dinner and Reception and will be encouraged to bring information with them about local pro bono opportunities.  Funds raised will be deposited with the Tennessee Legal Community Foundation, the nonprofit arm of TBA, for distribution to pro bono programs across the state.  It is hope the reception and dinner will become an annual event and will be followed up each year by a Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Service Day.
