Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas - 080008
Abstract Number: 080008
February 2008
Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) sponsored a Pro Bono Summit designed to enhance the program's Private Attorney Involvement (PAI) efforts in 2008 and beyond. Summit participants included the program's board and management; representatives from local bar association, corporate counsel offices and law schools; and the PAI coordinator, managing attorney and an advisory council member from each of LANWT's 14 offices. This working conference included a showcase of each office's PAI accomplishments and goals for 2008, as well as the development of recommendations for region and program-wide initiatives. LANWT developed a 2008 Annual Work Plan that demonstrates how LANWT will continue existing pro bono services and create new delivery mechanisms designed to increase client services through volunteer participation. The primary focus in 2008 is to increase pro bono case acceptances by at least 10 percent. The 2008 Work Plan also talks about utilizing various delivery models as recruitment tools, work closely with community partners to ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources, and ensure eligible clients have equitable access to legal aid including self-help, legal education, advice, brief services, and representation in court.
