The Pro Bono Collaborative (PBC) is a project of the Roger Williams University School of Law's Feinstein Institute for Legal Service. The PBC partners with large law firms, law students, and community-based organizations (CBOs) to bring much-needed legal assistance to the clients of the CBOs, who are persons with some of the greatest unmet legal needs in Rhode Island. The PBC project focuses on legal needs that are not addressed by current efforts. Some of the eight PBC pro bono projects include a Special Education Advocacy Project, an Affordable Housing Project, and a Legal Rights Workshop Project. The PBC emphasizes prevention by working toward systemic change, providing legal education, intervention, assistance, and advocacy with the hope of empowering people and resolving issues before they require court involvement, but providing direct representation when needed. LSC-funded Rhode Island Legal Services (RILS) is a CBO collaborator on one of the PBC's eight projects and have offered their extensive legal expertise and knowledge of the community as a resource for other PBC projects.
