Community Legal Resources of Detroit, in collaboration with the Michigan State Housing  Development Authority, established a Community Land Trust Project to provide access to land and housing for people otherwise priced out of the housing market..  A team of highly-skilled volunteer attorneys was empanelled to conduct a year-long project to develop a series of legal and other tools necessary to support the development of community land trusts (CLTs) in Michigan.   CLTs are private nonprofit corporations created to provide and secure affordable access to land and housing for the benefit of a designated community.   CLTs in Michigan have used unique real estate, taxation, and other legal strategies to achieve success.  The products of the Community Legal Resources of Detroit can be downloaded from the organization's web site: http://www.clronline.org/resources/clt.
