Community Legal Services (CLS) in Arizona launched a process to develop a two-year strategic plan in 2006. CLS adopted the mission statement "Community Legal Services is committed to eliminating poverty based inequities in the civil justice system by providing high quality legal advice, advocacy and assistance." The strategic plan is composed of goals, objectives and tasks. Specific objects were developed to accomplish each goal. Each objective requires a set of tasks to be performed.
CLS selected three goals for its strategic plan:
1. To ensure CLS has the resources needed to accomplish its mission. 2. To effectively represent and assist low-income persons in civil judicial, administrative and contested proceedings. 3. To support efforts to change the delivery of legal services in Arizona in ways that will eliminate or reduce poverty-based inequities in access to the justice system.
