Bay Area Legal Aid (BALA) implemented a loan repayment assistance program (LRAP) to help recent law school graduates repay their outstanding law school loans. BALA attorneys who graduated from law school in the last eleven years are eligible to be reimbursed for up to $3,000 annually. Reimbursements are paid out twice a year in January and July. Part-time attorneys receive pro-rated benefits. LRAP assistance is considered income for tax purposes. Prior to receiving reimbursements, participating attorneys are required to provide documentation of their loans to BALA. To learn more about this LRAP, access the guidelines below.
