Neighborhood Legal Services (NLS) implemented a loan repayment assistance program (LRAP) to provide assistance to NLS attorneys who are repaying outstanding educational debts accrued while attending law school. To be eligible, potential participants must be a full-time employee at NLS and a licensed attorney. In addition, participants must also have successfully completed his or her probationary period as well as submitted a timely LRAP application with supporting documentation detailing payments on outstanding educational loans. Participants may receive up to $1800 in LRAP assistance annually and benefits are disbursed annually. LRAP benefits are considered income for tax purposes.
