Legal Aid Services of Broward County created the Client Self-Sufficiency Project (Serving Unemployed & Undereducated Clients towards Complete Economic Self-Sufficiency) to provide legal assistance and counseling to low-income individuals who were formerly incarcerated or on economic assistance. The goal of SUCCESS is to remove barriers that may prevent a client of achieving economic self-sufficiency by assisting the client with family law issues, consumer law issues, public benefits issues, housing law issues, elder law issues, and more. While many SUCCESS clients are initially pursuing low-wage, dead end jobs, a primary emphasis of SUCCESS is to encourage women involved in the welfare to work program to request educational benefits to receive training or allow them to return to school. These educational benefits help SUCCESS clients attain more meaningful employment and thus, a brighter future. Broward County ranks #1 in Florida in participants receiving educational benefits from the welfare to work program. To learn more about this project, access the flyer below as a PDF document.
