In 1999, Queens Legal Services Corporation (QLSC) started the People's Law School. The People's Law School provides classes and workshops for members and staff of community based organizations, service providers, civic and religious groups in the areas of law most often confronted by clients. Currently, QLSC offers information on the following legal topics: housing, matrimonial law, family preservation, government benefits, consumer issues, HIV/AIDS, and education issues. Additional topics will be included to address emerging community concerns and, in some instances, seminars are specifically developed to address a group's particular needs.

The People's Law School has begun to hold annual conferences in collaboration with other service providers and/or community groups. Current conferences include topics such as fair housing and domestic violence. The People's Law School recently partnered with the Community Lending Department of Citibank and Neighborhood Housing Services to hold quarterly homebuyers seminars at different locations throughout the borough of Queens.
