The Utah Minority Bar Association developed "A Pledge to Racial and Ethnic Diversity" to be signed by law firms, law schools and the US Attorney Offices. Utah Legal Services, Inc. adopted the Pledge that facilitates the following goals:
To pursue full and equal opportunity and participation for all attorneys;
To increase the number of offers of employment extended to law students and attorneys of color; and
To increase retention and promotion rates of attorneys of color.
To date the Attorney General's Office, the United States Attorney's Office, both Utah law schools and two dozen of the largest Utah firms have signed it.
