CONSULTING EXPERIENCE

Years of experience as consultant:

7 years (LSC, NLADA, TALS and TJC)

If applicable, please write a brief paragraph about your history as a consultant for LSC:

I have been involved in three areas of LSC work. I worked with the OPP technology staff to develop a system for more efficient processing of data for technology grantees. Additionally, I helped plan a conference (including all logistics) for grantees (Chicago). Additionally, I have planned the logistics for a Client Conference (Hershey, PA), OPP Retreat (Coolfont Resort, WV), Statewide PDs (Indianapolis, IN) and Rural Delivery (Nebraska). Lastly, I worked with another LSC consultant on a longitudinal statistical analysis of cases closed by LSC funded programs over a 5-year period.

If applicable, please write a brief paragraph about your history as a consultant for other organizations involved in the delivery of civil legal assistance, including local, state, and national organizations (NLADA, ABA, MIE):

I assisted NLADA in analyzing its malpractice and other insurance programs pursuant to action taken by management to secure alternative insurance products for its members. This process involved investigation, analysis and presentation to the NLADA committee and staff responsible for this division.

Brief paragraph regarding other consulting experience:

Tennessee Association of Legal Services - a state support office for the TN legal services programs: I worked on various special projects including the development of a manual (still in use) for the State of TN as part of its "Fraud Awareness for Senior Tennesseans (F.A.S.T.)" program for reducing Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse. Additionally, I set up accounting and records management systems for tracking various grants and distribution to legal aid programs.

Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) - a non-LSC provider of legal services in TN. As a newly-formed entity, I set up the office, accounting and records management systems (including tracking grants and fundraising efforts), interviewed potential staff, and established the payroll system.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Professional experience (staff, board member, volunteer) in LSC-funded program(s):

I worked at Legal Services of Middle Tennessee-Nashville as the Program Administrator for 3 years.

Experience in other legal aid programs (staff, board member, volunteer):

I served on the Advisory Committee and the first Board of Directors for the Legal Services Nationwide Employee Benefits Organization (NEBO in the planning and development stage (as sponsored by LSC in 1981). (I later became the Executive Director of NEBO.)

I served as Executive Director of LS-NEBO for 8 years (San Francisco Bay Area). I have taught at the Community College and Adult Education levels for years. I have served as Executive Director (and other positions) while working at an association management company (AMC) (Walker Management - Nashville, TN).

(Additional detail is provided on my resume)
