Disaster Plan (Utilizing Modern Technology)

Legal Services of Southern Missouri - 080064

Abstract Number: 080064

July 2008

Legal Services of Southern Missouri (LSSMO) developed a Disaster Plan which utilizes the benefit of modern technology.  As a part of this disaster plan LSSMO relocated all of their computer servers in an underground complex which protects against any natural disaster. This complex provides 100% up-time guarantee on power and a 99.9% guarantee of Internet in case of a disaster. LSSMO has also implemented a paperless system to protect client files in case of a natural disaster. This paperless system gives staff, judicare and volunteer attorneys access to client files at all times. Additionally, LSSMO implemented an advanced computer system enabling staff members to share information and help clients in a cost effective manner.  Also video conferencing is being utilized for staff, committee and board meetings. Video conferencing allows the organization to provide timely updates on regulations, compliance issues, mentoring and substantive law.

LSSMO developed a short video presentation on their disaster plan. To view this video please click here or go to http://www.lsmo.org/video
