Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Plan

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid - 080003

Abstract Number: 080003

January 2008

Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid (TRLA) developed a Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Plan in order to keep TRLA employees safe, minimize loss to program property, and minimize disruption of program operations in the event of a disaster.  The Plan is reviewed and updated by the Disaster Assistance Team Manager before May 15th each year.  The program-wide plan is maintained on the TRLA website at www.trla.org. and the individual branch office plans are available to staff on TRLA's intranet. This plan distinguishes between sudden disasters, such as fires, tornados, floods, or ice storms, which require immediate action and disasters which allow more time for preparation, such as tropical storms or hurricanes.

The Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Plan addresses the following:

o Employees;
o Program Property;
o Services to Existing Clients; and
o Services for New, Disaster Related Clients.
