Law Help/NY (www.lawhelp.org/NY), an online legal referral and information service for low income New Yorkers, has created a September 11th page to assist those who may be experiencing problems and hardships connected with the disaster, and could benefit from legal help and information. The September 11th page has been designed to be a clearinghouse for information about legal rights, benefits and other resources that may be especially important to clients and to advocacy communities post September 11th. LawHelp/NY's September 11th page contains legal education and resource materials on approximately 50 different subjects, including:
A guide to emergency financial assistance programs
Tenant's rights and eviction prevention
How to obtain emergency food stamps and disaster Medicaid benefits
How to apply for unemployment and disaster unemployment assistance
